ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,508,327, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to Rowan University (Glassboro, N.J.).
"Methods of treating or preventing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis" was invented by Jeremy Francis (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Paola Leone (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This disclosure provides methods for treating, ameliorating, or reversing at least one symptom of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in a subject by increasing the amount of neuronal aspartate in spinal cord through administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a nucleic acid encoding ASPA or a functional fragment thereof."
