US Patent Issued to Rivian IP Holdings on July 7 for "Metal phosphate coatings for Li-ion batteries" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,676,301, issued on July 7, was assigned to Rivian IP Holdings LLC (Irvine, Calif.).

"Metal phosphate coatings for Li-ion batteries" was invented by Soo Kim (Fremont, Calif.), Johnson Mark (San Jose, Calif.), Victor Prajapati (San Francisco) and Ki Tae Park (Santa Clara, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) which include a metal phosphate coating material reactive (scavenging) or stable with cathode materials, HF, LiF, PF5-, and LiOH. The metal phosphates may be applied on the cathode material of LIBs."
