ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,669,318, issued on June 30, was assigned to Raytheon Co. (Arlington, Va.).
"Sealed ceramic material and method" was invented by Ralph Korenstein (Natick, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A ceramic substrate including a porous internal structure including a sealant infiltrator. The sealant infiltrator includes sodium and silicate. The sealant infiltrator infiltrates at least some of the plurality of pores and closes the plurality of pores filled with the sealant infiltrator when exposed to a negative pressure. The sealant infiltrator is distributed across the exterior surface of the ceramic substrate."
