ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,497,548, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Purdue Research Foundation (West Lafayette, Ind.).
"Biomimetic polymer adhesives containing gallol groups" was invented by Jonathan J. Wilker (West Lafayette, Ind.), Nevin A. Naren (Los Angeles) and Tuhin Subhra Pal (West Bengal, India).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A biomimetic polymer adhesive comprising a poly (gallol-co-styrene) group, its use in dry and wet (e.g., underwater) adhesion, and its method of manufacturing."
The patent was filed on March 30, 2023, under Application No. 18/128,691.
