ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,497,774, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Owens Corning Intellectual Capital LLC (Toledo, Ohio).

"Low density loosefill insulation" was invented by William E. Downey (Granville, Ohio) and Scott Schweiger (Newark, Ohio).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The general inventive concepts relate to unbonded loosefill fiberglass compositions useful for insulation. The compositions demonstrate improved product density. In certain instances, this is accomplished by application of a surface modifying agent."
