ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,503,338, issued on Dec. 23, was assigned to Otis Elevator Co. (Farmington, Conn.).
"Hybrid compensation member" was invented by Daniel A. Mosher (Glastonbury, Conn.), Kyle B. Martin (Avon, Conn.) and Wenping Zhao (Glastonbury, Conn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A compensation and tie-down member for an elevator system includes one or more lightweight compensation tension elements having a first tensile strength/unit mass/unit length, and one or more heavier weight compensation tension elements having a second tensile strength/unit mass/unit length less than the first tensile strength/unit mass/unit length."
