ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,546,944, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to NTT Inc. (Tokyo).
"Optical module" was invented by Yuji Fujiwara (Tokyo), Nobutatsu Koshobu (Tokyo), Satomi Katayose (Tokyo), Kei Watanabe (Tokyo) and Ryoichi Kasahara (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An optical module includes two components that are optically connected, and includes a glass layer disposed in a region including an optical connection portion between the two components, at least one component includes a thin tube through which outside air is introduced, and an end face of the thin tube is in contact with the glass layer."
