ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,559,611, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to NISSHINBO HOLDINGS INC. (Tokyo).
"Hydrophobic alginic acid particle group and method for producing same" was invented by Kazutoshi Hayakawa (Chiba, Japan), Toshifumi Hashiba (Chiba, Japan) and Erina Matsuzaka (Chiba, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides a hydrophobic alginic acid particle group which is obtained by subjecting a polyvalent metal alginate to a hydrophobization treatment, and which is configured such that the water absorption per 100 g of the particles is lower than the oil absorption per 100 g of the particles."
