ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,668,862, issued on June 30, was assigned to NIPPON STEEL Corp. (Tokyo).

"Austenitic stainless steel and tube" was invented by Masahiro Seto (Tokyo), Takumi Nishimoto (Tokyo) and Katsuki Tanaka (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There is provided an austenitic stainless steel having a chemical composition that comprises, in mass %: C: 0.002 to 0.020%, Si: 0.10 to 0.60%, Mn: 0.2 to 2.0%, P: 0.035% or less, S: 0.010% or less, Cu: 2.50 to 4.50%, Ni: 9.00 to 16.00%, Cr: 15.00 to 20.00%, Mo: 0.20 to 1.50%, Nb: 0.15 to 0.60%, N: 0.05 to 0.15%, B: 0.0010 to 0.0060%, and optional elements, with the balance: Fe and impurities and that satisfies...
