ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,563,645, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to NGK INSULATORS Ltd. (Nagoya, Japan).

"Electrode-embedded ceramic structure" was invented by Takao Ohnishi (Niwa-Gun, Japan), Daishi Tanabe (Kasugai, Japan) and Akifumi Morishita (Komaki, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electrode-embedded ceramic structure includes: a ceramic shaft, wherein an electrode is disposed on an outer circumference thereof; and a ceramic tube housing the ceramic shaft therein and coupled to the ceramic shaft. In this electrode-embedded ceramic structure, spaces are provided locally between the ceramic shaft and the ceramic tube."
