ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,597,677, issued on April 7, was assigned to NGK INSULATORS Ltd. (Nagoya, Japan).

"LDH separator" was invented by Shumpei Ono (Nagoya, Japan), Sho Yamamoto (Nagoya, Japan), Naoko Inukai (Nagoya, Japan) and Shohei Yokoyama (Nagoya, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There is provided an LDH separator including a porous substrate and a hydroxide ion-conductive layered compound that is a layered double hydroxide (LDH) and/or a layered double hydroxide (LDH)-like compound, filling up pores of the porous substrate. The proportion of the hydroxide ion-conductive layered compound in the LDH separator is 25 to 85% by weight."
