ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,593,527, issued on March 31, was assigned to NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (Newark, N.J.).

"Binary colloidal quantum dot technology" was invented by Dong Kyun Ko (Millburn, N.J.), Shihab Bin Hafiz (Harrison, N.J.) and Mohammad Mostafa Al Mahfuz (Harrison, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A binary CQD device is disclosed, which could include a MWIR-absorbing intraband CQD with another type of CQD. The binary CQD device could include a MWIR-absorbing intraband silver selenide (Ag2Se) CQD with a lead sulfide (PbS) CQD."

The patent was filed on June 6, 2023, under Application No. 18/206,342.
