ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,589,385, issued on March 31, was assigned to NBC Meshtec Inc. (Tokyo).

"Photocatalytic filter and deodorizing apparatus" was invented by Hiromi Ikuta (Tokyo), Yusei Matsumoto (Tokyo), Yohei Jikihara (Tokyo) and Takanori Matsumoto (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A photocatalytic filter includes a filter substrate, the filter substrate being a porous metal, and a photocatalyst fixed to the filter substrate. When a thickness of the porous metal is t (mm) and an average cell number per inch of the porous metal is C (ppi), a product (txC) of the thickness t and the average cell number C is from 100 or more to 400 or less."
