US Patent Issued to Natural Extraction Systems on May 13 for "Methods to chemically modify cannabinoids" (Colorado Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,297,181, issued on May 13, was assigned to Natural Extraction Systems LLC (Boulder, Colo.).

"Methods to chemically modify cannabinoids" was invented by C. Russell Thomas (Boulder, Colo.) and Matthew M. DePalo (Aurora, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Various aspects of this disclosure relate to methods to lower the activation energy of the cannabinoid decarboxylation reaction by performing the decarboxylation reaction in the gas phase."

The patent was filed on Aug. 9, 2019, under Application No. 17/267,279.
