ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,603,069, issued on April 14, was assigned to Music Nomad LLC (Sonoma, Calif.).
"Fretboard guard" was invented by Rand Rognlien (Sonoma, Calif.), Pieter Schouten (Berkeley, Calif.) and Jonathan Jones (Sonoma, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A single fretboard guard that covers an entire fretboard of a stringed instrument. The fretboard guard includes a main body that covers the fretboard and a ledge that extends downwardly and away from the main body. The ledge serves as anchor points for securing the fretboard guard to the stringed instrument."
The patent was filed on Sept. 29, 2023, under Application No. 18/478,264.
