US Patent Issued to MTU Aero Engines on Sept. 15 for "Turbofan engine having a low-pressure turbine" (German Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,735,987, issued on Sept. 15, was assigned to MTU Aero Engines AG (Munich).

"Turbofan engine having a low-pressure turbine" was invented by Markus Brettschneider (Karlsfeld, Germany), Roman Seiband (Todtenweis, Germany), Petra Kufner (Poing, Germany) and Jens Truebenbach (Munich).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A turbofan engine having a low-pressure turbine that has at last four stages, at least one of the four stages having a transonic airfoil cascade is provided."

The patent was filed on Jan. 20, 2025, under Application No. 19/032,175.
