ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,461,404, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to MRL Materials Resources LLC (Beavercreek, Ohio).
"Analyzing microtextured regions of optically anisotropic materials" was invented by Daniel P. Satko (Centerville, Ohio), Ayman A. Salem (Beavercreek, Ohio), Thomas J. Carmody (Chicago) and Patrick M. Fleisher (Kettering, Ohio).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Images of samples that are illuminated with polarized light are captured. Azimuth and inclination data are extracted from the captured images. The azimuth and inclination data are used to quantify MTRs."
The patent was filed on Aug. 21, 2023, under Application No. 18/452,881.
