ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,582,609, issued on March 24, was assigned to ModernaTX Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.).

"Cancer vaccines" was invented by Nicholas Valiante (Cambridge, Mass.), Tal Zaks (Newton, Mass.) and Eric Yi-Chun Huang (Boston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure relates to cancer ribonucleic acid (RNA) vaccines, as well as methods of using the vaccines and compositions comprising the vaccines."

The patent was filed on Oct. 21, 2016, under Application No. 15/769,710.
