ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. PP37,488, issued on June 23, was assigned to Mississippi State University (Starkville, Miss.).

"Bermudagrass plant named 'MSB-1080'" was invented by H. Wayne Philley (Mathisthon, Miss.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new Bermudagrass plant particularly distinguished by having high turfgrass quality and density; medium-fine leaf texture, rapid spring greenup, and low seedhead production."
