ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 23 -- United States Patent no. PP37,169, issued on Dec. 23, was assigned to Midwest Apple Improvement Association (Amherst, Ohio).
"Apple tree named 'MAIA-MITCHELL'" was invented by William A Pitts (Sterling, N.Y.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct variety of apple tree named 'MAIA-MITCHELL' that ripens in late October with strong, solid red coloration and that maintains firmness and quality for 6 months under commercial refrigeration conditions, is disclosed herein."
The patent was filed on April 3, 2023, under Application No. 18/130,019.
