ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,677,855, issued on July 14, was assigned to McCain Foods Ltd. (New Brunswick, Canada).
"Liquified potato product and process" was invented by Nigel Kirtley (Glencoe, Ill.), Ray Laudano (Libertyville, Ill.) and Derek E. Spors (Boulder, Colo.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A liquid potato-derived product may be produced from whole raw potatoes and may be utilized to produce various healthy food products, such as dips and sauces. This liquid potato product may be produced from raw potatoes by pretreating the potatoes, gelatinizing the pretreated potatoes, and then liquefying the gelatinized potatoes under sufficient shear."
