ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. PP37,374, issued on April 21, was assigned to Lucanne B.V. (Netherlands).
"Heliconia plant named 'RUBY PARROT IMPROVED'" was invented by Peter Wismans (Haalderen, Netherlands).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Heliconia plant named 'RUBY PARROT IMPROVED' is disclosed, characterized by solid dark-green foliage color, and bright yellow flower color. Plants are compact and freely-branching. The new variety is a Heliconia, typically produced as an outdoor ornamental plant."
