US Patent Issued to LG Electronics on July 21 for "Scaling list-based video or image coding" (South Korean Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,689,770, issued on July 21, was assigned to LG Electronics Inc. (Seoul, South Korea).

"Scaling list-based video or image coding" was invented by Seethal Paluri (Seoul, South Korea) and Seunghwan Kim (Seoul, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "According to the disclosure of the present document, scaling list data and scaling list-associated information can be signaled hierarchically, which can consequently reduce the amount of data to be signaled for video/image coding and increase coding efficiency."
