ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,688,954, issued on July 21, was assigned to LEVITON MANUFACTURING Co. INC. (Melville, N.Y.).

"Layered profile insulation" was invented by Paul Michael Good (New Holland, Pa.), Bradley G. Hess (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and Antoine Cotard (Lancaster, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A conductor of a twisted-pair data cable has a primary profiled insulation layer formed over a conductive wire, and a second insulation layer formed over the primary profiled insulation layer."

The patent was filed on Nov. 14, 2023, under Application No. 18/508,365.
