According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A cooling device suitable for cooling paraffin tissue blocks with little or no moisture artefacts, as well as the use thereof to obtain good quality serial sections for microscope slides. The slides can be used in histology and anatomical pathology, for example. The cooling device may include a cold plate, a lid, and a sheet of insulating material over the cold plate."
