ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,576,098, issued on March 17, was assigned to Kimberly-Clark Worldwide Inc. (Neenah, Wis.).

"Saponin containing extracts prepared from Hesperaloe useful in the treatment of non-human animals" was invented by Ning Wei (Roswell, Ga.) and Thomas G. Shannon (Neenah, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are novel pharmaceutical, animal feed compositions and methods of treating non-human animals comprising at least one component selected from the extract(s), fraction(s), active compound(s) and phytochemical(s), or mixtures thereof, derived from non-woody plants of the genus Hesperaloe.
