ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,600,320, issued on April 14, was assigned to Keyfree Technologies Inc. (Etobicoke, Canada).

"Vehicle anti-theft device and method therefor" was invented by Tony Alberga (Toronto), Howard B. Katz (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Roman Gold (Toronto).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle anti-theft device for a vehicle has a hardware adapter removably attached to an OnBoard Diagnostic II (OBD-II) port of the vehicle. The hardware adapter monitors for unauthorized movement of the vehicle and allows only authorized individuals who enter an authorization code to the hardware adapter to drive the vehicle."
