ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,678,423, issued on July 14, was assigned to KEIO UNIVERSITY (Tokyo).

"Therapeutic agent for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and composition for treatment" was invented by Hideyuki Okano (Tokyo), Koki Fujimori (Tokyo) and Hironobu Okuno (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A therapeutic agent for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis including a compound represented by Formula (1) [in Formula (1), R1 each independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or 4-hydroxyphenethyl group, and n represents an integer of 1 to 3], a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a solvate thereof, as an effective ingredient."
