ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,545,895, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Joslin Diabetes Center (Boston).
"Protection of beta cells from immune attack" was invented by Stephan Kissler (Arlington, Mass.) and Peng Yi (Needham, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Compositions of genetically modified beta-like cells are encompassed. Also encompassed are methods of treatment of type 1 diabetes using these compositions or compositions that inhibit the function of the identified genes."
The patent was filed on June 6, 2023, under Application No. 18/330,020.
