ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,608,637, issued on April 21, was assigned to IonQ Inc. (College Park, Md.).

"Active piezo stabilization of an ion trap" was invented by Kai Makoto Hudek (Hyattsville, Md.) and Jason Madjdi Amini (Takoma Park, Md.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to systems and methods for use in the implementation and/or operation of quantum information processing (QIP) systems, and more particularly, to provide stabilization of a position of an ion trap via displacement of one or more piezoelectric elements."
