ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,669,690, issued on June 30, was assigned to IntraAction Inc. (Bellwood, Ill.).
"Acousto-optic system" was invented by Khanh Le (Bellwood, Ill.), John Lekavich (Bellwood, Ill.) and Bao Tran (Saratoga, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A laser scanning microscopy system includes a laser whose beam is modified by an acousto-optic deflector that includes an optical element having a surface with one or more steps formed thereon; a conductive layer formed on the surface with the steps; one or more crystals secured to each step; and electrodes positioned on each surface of each crystal."
