ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,696,757, issued on July 28, was assigned to INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES Corp. (Armonk, N.Y.).

"Antifuse and resistor" was invented by Ashim Dutta (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Chih-Chao Yang (Glenmont, N.Y.) and Kishan Jayanand (Cohoes, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A horizontal antifuse structure including a fuse dielectric layer, two slanted annular metal structures arranged adjacent to and opposite one another, wherein bottom portions of the two slanted annular metal structures are embedded in the fuse dielectric layer."

The patent was filed on Sept. 20, 2023, under Application No. 18/470,472.
