ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,747,474, issued on Sept. 29, was assigned to Illumina Cambridge Ltd. (Great Britain).
"Densely-packed analyte layers and detection methods" was invented by Norman Burns (Pleasanton, Calif.) and Dennis Ballinger (Pleasanton, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are methods and systems for detection and discrimination of optical signals from a densely packed substrate. These methods and systems may have broad applications for biomolecule detection near or below the diffraction limit of optical systems, including in improving the efficiency and accuracy of polynucleotide sequencing applications."
