ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,567,308, issued on March 3, was assigned to IGT (Las Vegas).

"Non-fungible tokens in gaming" was invented by Dwayne R. Nelson (Las Vegas), Kevin Higgins (Reno, Nev.) and Ethan Edsall (Sparks, Nev.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods that provides zero, one or more non-fungible tokens to a player in addition to any awards provided to that player in association with a play of a game."

The patent was filed on Oct. 17, 2023, under Application No. 18/380,887.
