ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,562,031, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to IGT (Las Vegas).

"Random quantity of ways of winning" was invented by Michael DeBrabander (Reno, Nev.) and William Redick (Reno, Nev.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Gaming systems and methods that randomly determine a quantity of ways to win for a play of a game by randomly determining a quantity of active symbol display positions to employ for that play of the game."

The patent was filed on March 4, 2024, under Application No. 18/594,977.
