ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,440,581, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to HOWARD HUGHES MEDICAL INSTITUTE (Chevy Chase, Md.).
"Fluorophores for super-resolution imaging" was invented by Luke D. Lavis (Leesburg, Va.) and Qinsi Zheng (Ashburn, Va.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The presently-disclosed subject matter includes fluorescent compounds of the following formula:The compounds can be used as probes, dyes, tags, and the like. The presently-disclosed subject matter also includes kits comprising the same as well as methods for using the same to detect a target substance."
The patent was filed on Sept. 21, 2020, under Application No. 17/027,286.
