ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,448,914, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (Tokyo).
"Power unit" was invented by Yoshitaka Nukada (Tokyo), Hitoshi Yokotani (Tokyo) and Masaru Odajima (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A power unit has an internal combustion engine and a first auxiliary machine. The internal combustion engine includes a crankshaft and a balancer shaft. The first auxiliary machine operates on rotational power generated in the internal combustion engine. The first auxiliary machine is driven by rotational power of the balancer shaft."
