ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,747,465, issued on Sept. 29, was assigned to Hitachi Ltd. (Tokyo).

"Method for analyzing protein" was invented by Masashi Maruyama (Tokyo), Eric Ofosu-Twum (Tokyo), Akihiro Nojima (Tokyo), Masuyuki Sugiyama (Tokyo) and Shun Kumano (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided is a pretreatment method for structural analysis of a protein, including chemical modifying and fragmenting a protein to be analyzed, in which in the fragmenting, the protein is treated at a temperature of 60 to 99deg C. in the presence of a heat-resistant protease that has four or more cleavage sites and is soluble or immobilized on a carrier."
