ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,575,812, issued on March 17, was assigned to Hill-Rom Services Inc. (Batesville, Ind.).

"Activation of appliance in response to subject sleep state" was invented by Zvika Shinar (Binyamina, Israel), Guy Meger (Haifa, Israel) and Avner Halperin (Ramat Gan, Israel).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Apparatus and methods are described including using a sensor to monitor a sleeping subject and generate a signal in response to the monitoring. A noise control device is controlled in response to the signal."
