ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,622,566, issued on May 12, was assigned to Haier US Appliance Solutions Inc. (Wilmington, Del.).

"Non-radiating pump cover" was invented by Kyle James Brewer (Louisville, Ky.), Scott Allen Noll (Blacklick, Ohio) and Kemper York (Columbus, Ohio).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A dishwasher pump assembly includes a pump cover configured to reduce the amount of noise transmitted by the cover during operation of the pump. The radiating efficiency of the cover is reduced by reducing the solid percentage of the pump cover. In doing so, the geometry of the pump cover may be modified to inefficient at radiating noise."
