ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. PP37,378, issued on April 21, was assigned to GREENLEAF NURSERY Co. (Park Hill, Okla.).

"Cercis plant named 'JN104'" was invented by Ray Jackson (Belvidere, Tenn.) and Cindy Jackson (Belvidere, Tenn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new cultivar of Cercis canadensis tree named 'JN104' that is characterized by its deep green foliage, its foliage that is resistant to summer heat in Southern climates, its vigorous, weeping, and consistent growth habit, and its uniform branching."

The patent was filed on Aug. 9, 2024, under Application No. 18/799,948.
