ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,639,364, issued on May 26, was assigned to Gracenote Inc. (New York).

"Indexing fingerprints" was invented by Matthew James Wilkinson (Emeryville, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Example methods and systems for indexing fingerprints are described. Fingerprints may be made up of sub-fingerprints, each of which corresponds to a frame of the media, which is a smaller unit of time than the fingerprint.
