ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,582,447, issued on March 24, was assigned to Globus Medical Inc. (Audubon, Pa.).
"Orthopedic extendable rods" was invented by Bobby Lynch (Gainesville, Fla.) and Kurt Faulhaber (Cape Coral, Fla.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments herein are generally directed to extendable rods for use in orthopedic assemblies. In some embodiments, these implants may be used in conjunction with procedures to treat spinal deformities, including, but not limited to, early onset scoliosis."
The patent was filed on Oct. 19, 2022, under Application No. 18/047,866.
