ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,594,267, issued on April 7, was assigned to Gilead Sciences Inc. (Foster City, Calif.).

"Capsid inhibitors for the treatment of HIV" was invented by Anna Chiu (Burlingame, Calif.), Charles William Rowe (San Bruno, Calif.) and Scott P. Sellers (Hillsborough, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure relates to compounds of Formula (Ia) and (Ib):or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which are useful in the treatment of an HIV infection in heavily treatment-experienced patients with multidrug resistant HIV infection."

The patent was filed on Feb. 27, 2024, under Application No. 18/588,730.
