ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,598,155, issued on April 7, was assigned to GeoFrenzy Inc. (Tiburon, Calif.).
"Geocoding with geofences" was invented by Benjamin T. Jones (Las Vegas) and Bennett Hill Branscomb (Ingleside, Texas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods of registering geocodes with a geofence and delivering geocodes which define geofences to devices are described herein. Geocodes include strings of words, letters, numbers, and combinations thereof. Geocodes associated with the same or similar geofences are cohesive and provide for improved location information, with IP addresses being assigned to the geocodes."
