ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,560,535, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to Gemological Institute of America Inc. (GIA) (Carlsbad, Calif.).
"Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy for gemstone identification" was invented by Hiroshi Takahashi (Morristown, N.J.) and Pradeep N. Perera (Fair Lawn, N.J.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods here may be used for capturing and analyzing spectrometer data of multiple sample gemstones on a stage, including mapping digital camera image data of samples, for both reflective and transmission modes."
