ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,742,485, issued on Sept. 22, was assigned to Fox Factory Inc. (Duluth, Ga.).
"Canned valve seal" was invented by Season Chu (Tai-Chung, Taiwan), Thomas Holaday (Arden, N.C.), Joshua Coaplen (Asheville, N.C.) and William O. Brown IV (Aptos, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A canned valve seal is disclosed. The valve seal is used within a gland formed in a piston body, the valve seal providing a fluid seal between the body and a valve when the valve is in a closed position, the valve seal includes a stiff component and a sealing material about the stiff component."
