ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,617,300, issued on May 5, was assigned to FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).
"Integrated vehicle power converter and battery charger" was invented by Petros G. Taskas (Novi, Mich.) and Baoming Ge (Okemos, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Responsive to a voltage across a capacitor being greater than a voltage across a traction battery, a controller may open switches such that charge current from a DC charger flows through a diode to the traction battery without following through coils of an electric machine and without flowing through an inverter."
