ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,606,664, issued on April 21, was assigned to Ford Global Technologies LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).
"Polyurethane foam with graphite fillers recovered from spent lithium-ion batteries" was invented by Alper Kiziltas (Sarikamis, Turkey), Sandeep Tamrakar (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Bhaskara Rao Boddakayala (Troy, Mich.) and Deborah Frances Mielewski (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A foam material includes the reaction product of a polyol mixture and an isocyanate mixture and a graphite filler obtained from spent lithium-ion batteries. The graphite filler defines a layered structure and adhesion anchor points."
