ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,356,949, issued on July 15, was assigned to Forage Genetics International LLC (West Salem, Wis.).

"Anthracnose resistant alfalfa plants" was invented by Charles A. Rodgers (Onalaska, Wis.), Mark H. McCaslin (Shoreview, Minn.), David D. Witte (West Salem, Wis.), Julie Chiu-Lee Ho (Davis, Calif.) and John Nicholas Cameron (Woodland, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure provides alfalfa plants exhibiting broad spectrum resistance to Race 1, Race 2, and Race 5 anthracnose.
